Is it necessary to have this compatibility assistant enabled for Legacy 8 ? I did activate it when I downloaded the Geo Database, but I then had trouble getting legacy to find it, ....and it is working now.
I don't think it was required as I had already loaded the Database into legacy 7 some years ago which is on the same machine. Problem; There is an inherent problem with Vista in that versions of Internet Explorer after Ver 9 are incompatible with Vista, so I have been using Chrome for the later features which are unavailable in IE9. Chrome doesn't like the compatibility mode. Problem the next; When searching the net from the Research Guidance center I get 'script error on page' errors and a request to use a newer version of browser, (it seems Legacy always defaults to use Internet Explorer (IE9 on this machine) even though I think I am using Chrome) I then reinstall Chrome 'in situ' and am then told Chrome works better without compatibility mode. If anyone can understand all this I would appreciate some guidance Charles Brasell South Pacific Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
