Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] TNG and Shared Events

Don,

Just because you have a workaround, does not mean that direct support by TNG
should not be done in the future.

Response: I couldn't agree more. But I needed a workaround right now so that
I could use TNG without leaving out a lot of useful information about people
that I wanted to share with family and public visitors to my site.

But there is 2 immediate problems I would see with this and one potential
problem

1/ If we become dependent on this, how can we be sure that you are available to
maintain it while Legacy and TNG move forward. How will the average user know
that your tool is even available.

Response: I never intended for my solution to be widely used . It was simply
a temporary workaround that others are welcome to use if it is useful to them.

2/ You have a 3700 person file, I have a 125K person file and Richard Weber has
over 400K person file. I suspect that those files could take exponentially
longer to process.

Response: Not sure it would be exponentially longer to process, but at least
proportionally. For your size files, it would probably not be feasible.

3/ How does your tool handle different roles and the notes that might be
attached to each role player?

Response: Currently, it does not because I don't use roles and individual
notes very much for shared events. However, the VBA code could be modified to
add the person roles/notes to the event note that displays on their page.

Please feel free to email me a copy of the tool, privately, of course.

Response: I will do that.

john.
