I don't think my way is much different to yours.

My sentence "«b»[EventName]«/b»:  [onDate] [HeShe] registered the [Desc]
[atPlace].[Sources]"

gives "Informant:  on 8 January 1945 he registered the Birth of his
daughter Jennifer Margaret Dodd at Birkenhead, Cheshire, England.¹

for my father being the informant of my own birth.
