Hi Barton, You may find the information on the series in the catalogue, if any. Not being American I often have to adapt templates and ignore fields that don't apply. EE is a great guide but doesn't cover all non-US sources and covers some non-US sources badly. For US sources she gives priority to how the National Archives catalogue. She states she follows the Chicago Manual of Style and the National Archives of the USA. For non-US sources, she doesn't give the same courtesy to their National Archives citing advice.
My rule of thumb is to record what is recorded in the archive catalogue and/or what is needed for someone else to get a copy. If you didn't need the "Series" in order to obtain the document, then it likely is irrelevant to this particular source. However if it's in the catalogue then the archivist probably needed it to find the will for you, so it should be added. Another clue - if the wills are indexed, is the Series in the Index? if not, one would assume it's not needed.
