I'm getting a LOT of food for thought out of this discussion.  I think I
started doing it - using census as an event as well as a source -
 by following someone else's recommendation.  That said, I think the thing
I might "miss" by discontinuing the practice is a quick reference to which
censuses I have recorded - although I could look at the sources for that.

Previous versions allowed me to highlight individual details for each
person that I attached the same event or source too. That way I could view
the source or event and see which portions of the census data applied to
that individual.  But that is gone now anyway :-/

A source actually gives a faster view of the details now.

A census as an event will also appear in a timeline where a source will
not. You could add a residence event but if I already have all the census
details on the clipboard I suppose it is just faster to use that.
