Aha, it sounds as if you do have a genealogical data file from the other software program and that is what you wish to view. Without purchasing a copy, you'd need to find someone who already has the program and would be willing to open your file and hopefully save it back into a GEDCOM file which Legacy can open. Unless you can still contact the person who sent you the file in the first place, your choices are limited to finding a kind soul somewhere. This brings up the point about sharing any genealogical data with friends or family, the GEDCOM format is probably the best way to go. Otherwise, Legacy is great at producing text based reports to accomplish the same thing.
