Everyone,

Every now and again you have to re-run Tools - Set Relationships.
That's just the way it is. A few relationships auto update as you add people but most don't.

More info. My unknown gender child described as a SON remained a SON even
after I Set Relationships.

Out of curiosity, I changed the gender to male. Description in Family View
remained a Son. I reran Set Relationships and it remained a son.

I then changed the child back to female and reran Set Relationships. Yea,
Legacy finally figured it out and changed the description to the correct
term of Daughter.

I'll let the programmer's figure out the logic or lack thereof. :-)

Thanks everyone for the assistance.

The radio button was listed as female. I had originally put her in as an
unknown sex because I only knew the mother had x number of children and I
didn't know the sex of two of them. I changed it to female when I found out
the correct sex and the name.

I tried check/repair, it did not fix the problem.

I took a little nap and came up with totally deleting the individual and
putting her back in. Made FGS and copied the notes. Put her in as the
correct sex with everything that was in there before.

That fixed the problem.

I had one other child listed as an unknown, so I went in and did an
experiment, I changed that one to a female, and low and behold she was
listed the same way as the first, as an uncle. For some reason Legacy is
not recognizing the sex switch for unknown sex to the sex you subsequently
choose. I have done this on others, I just don't remember the ones I did it
to right now, and had gone in and changed the sex when I knew what they
were. I will have to look carefully at the children now when I make such a
change.

Go ahead and try the experiment. Put in a child of unknown sex to a family,
then change it to female and look at the relationship label that comes up.

I am running 8.0.0.559 I will make the update this evening to 8.0.0.566.

In family view, is the radio button selected for male or female. If male,
click on female radio button.

Have you recalculated the relationships? What build of Legacy are you

using? I am using 8.0.0.556 and I Just recalculated relationships in my
file. My 2nd great Grand aunts are showing the correct term. Uncles are also
correct.

No I have her listed as a female, she is on the right side of the screen.
If I knew how to get a screen shot I would send it.

If she is not married you need to open her for edit and change the
gender from M to F. if she is married then you have to use Edit>
Swap husband and wife to change gender for both her and her spouse.

After making the change you will have to recalculate the relationships.

Hi Donna,
When you look at the person in the 'family view' is she on the right

side?

If you inadvertently added her in on the left side, Legacy would
automatically assume she was a male.

If so, I think you can unlink her from the family as a son, then
relink her as a daughter.
