Not necessarily - Windows has been remembering opened files for years, at
least since XP.

What is odd is that, in Win 7, they have changed the system sometime in the
last couple of years, and it may be dependent on the application. For Office
2010 and earlier, I had them in the Start Menu with a drop-down list of
opened files. When I moved to Office 2016 they were moved to the Task Bar
and I needed to right-click on the icon to get a list of recent files.
Putting them back in the Start Menu and Excel shows the drop-down link, but
with no content, even after I open a file, while Word does not even show the
drop-down link.

So I put Legacy onto the task bar, used a right-click and only had the
Legacy 8.0 link. Opened it and then open/close a couple of Legacy databases.
Exited and right-click on the task bar icon now shows me the files I had
opened. I then added it to the Start Menu and that now shows me the
drop-down link to a list of recent files.

Regards

Chris

Apparently this is a new feature of Windows 10?

On my main PC (running Windows 7), if I right click on the task bar I do not
get the list of recently used files (yes, I have opened multiple Legacy
files on that computer). Same results if it is pinned or not.

On my test/game PC (running Windows 10), I installed the latest Legacy free
version, opened the Sample file, and did a SAVE AS and called it
DUP1 and DUP2. Now, when I right click on the Windows 10 Legacy icon, I see
those OTHER files listed (the DUPs), but I do NOT see SAMPLE.

It doesn't matter if the icon is pinned or not - I still see the SAVE AS
list in Windows 10, but not Windows 7. NOTE however that the original file
never shows up in that list. It only shows up if I do a FILE, SAVE AS and
overwrite the SAMPLE file.
