I had not used Name List (or Marriage List) because of inflexibility (not just
its lack of sorting of any of the display fields). I would like various subsets
of names.

Because of that, (in Name List – not Marriage List) I did not take notice of
the Optional Fields ‘Born’ and ‘Died’ are compound (Birth Date/Place, Death
Date/Place) and others – for example, just Birth Date – can be used. (Customise
button)
Which, of course, makes a more useful CSV export in which partial sorting by
date is possible (or, with some minor coding, a better sorting) – and makes the
Tip of the Day meaningful to me.

But of course experienced users knew that already!

If you are going to be using Excel, the easiest work around for the date issue
is to change the date format in Legacy at Options - Customise 5.1 to yyyy-mm-dd
and then make the Date columns in Excel Number or Text rather than Date.
You still have problems with the prefixes.
