Ian, don't confuse display with content.

The content of the field has not changed, just the way the program displays the numbers. This is no different that choosing to display surnames in all caps even though they are entered in mixed case.

I do find it against all I have stood for when the programmer changes users data, and this adds char to a data field.

    I don’t like them {} either.  They appear in other views also, like
    Index, and Descendant views:  No other data fields get any
    additional character treatment, so why should these?____

These curly braces appeared a couple of updates back (IIRC). They are configured here under 8.2:____

        You can see mine are set to display FamilySearch ID#s.  You
        obviously have (or the default is) the Find a Grave ID#s…____

        Why all of a sudden is there brackets around the field FndGrv#
