Steve,
No need to be so RUDE. I was trying to help you.
You said:
> you cannot 'delete' a master source that

This statement is incorrect.
1-You go into the Master Source List
2-Click on the source you want to delete
3-Click on "Show List"
There sill be a LARGE button on the right-hand side
that says:
"Delete this Master Source and All Citations to it"
You will get a message to Confirm the Delete.
4-Click on "Yes" and your incorrect source and ALL it's
Citations will be GONE.
Four clicks and the Master Source, that has you so frustrated,
and it's Citations, will not be around to bother you anymore.
"You need to understand that", I know what I am talking about.
TRY IT you'll LIKE IT (the results).
Louise

Legacy doesn't quite work as advertised. You need to understand that
blindly adding bogus duplicate source citations to 1,132 existing records is
not* the proper thing to do. You probably also need to understand that
'combine' in the master source list (after editing the bogus source to make
it a true duplicate) does not* remove the 1,132 bogus citations -- and that
you cannot 'delete' a master source that has even one citation against it.
