Hello Sid,

Happen to have exactly the same situation in my family - except
for gender. I let Legacy 5 Deluxe (build of 02 Dec) calculate
relationships as you suggest. After swapping, the two are still
2nd half-cousins, once removed, and the correct 4 generations show
on the right, the correct 3 generations on the left. My great
grandfather's DAUGHTER from his first marriage does not disappear
(glad of that, as she is my grandmother). I hope Leg5-Deluxe does
the same for you.

You might want to try inventing the same situation in another
branch of the family, putting in dummy people in a test file, to
see if you can duplicate the problem. If you can, you may need to
do maintenance steps. Backup first. Try on a test file first.
It's a shame to have to delete your .usr files, but you can try
hiding them some place to see if that helps. If all else fails,
ask if you can send your file to Support. If you can't solve your
problem, they won't rest until they've solved it. They are
renowned for excellence in such matters, you know.

Good luck,

--Beth in Norway

Subject: [LegacyUG] New subscriber with question

Hello, Group...as a new subscriber, I don't know whether this
matter has been addressed previously; if it is redundant, I
apologize. (By the way, I am awaiting receipt of Version 5, which
just MAY answer it for me!)
Subject "A" was married twice. From the first marriage, there is
currently a fourth subsequent living descendant generation; from
the second marriage, there is currently a third subsequent living
descendant generation.
Subject "B" is the present living descendant of the second
marriage;
Subject "C" is the present living descendant of the first
marriage. They are half -2nd cousins 1 time removed.
If Subject "C" is the principal, and a relationship chart is
constructed between "C" and "B", the resulting chart is correct,
showing "A" as the common ancestor, "C" on the third and bottom
left-hand line, and "B" on the fourth and bottom right hand line.
So far, so good.
Now...hit the "swap" button, to reverse the left and right
columns. The relationship remains correctly shown, as "half -2nd
cousins 1 time removed". BUT...now there are only THREE lines in
each column. "C"'s great-grandfather ("A"'s son from his first
marriage), has disappeared! Only the most recent three
generations are shown for each half of the equation.
Is this a glitch in the system...or am I simply showing my
ignorance? I'll look forward to hearing from someone smarter than
I am! Thanks!
