Marsha,
I do this quite often by just UN Linking my spouses parents. Then I export
file to new Legacy file using Focus Group to "Add an Individual (my self)
and Entire Family Line". This will create a file of just my ancestors and
descendants.
Then I go back to my original file and Link my spouses parents again, thus
restoring my file to it's original state.
You can then follow the same procedure for your spouses side of the tree by
Unlinking your parents and then exporting another Legacy file, selecting him
as the individual to add the entire family line.
After I use my new file for the purpose intended, I delete it to avoid using
it by mistake.
This should work OK for you since you do not have any cross linking with
your spouses ancestors.
This seems too simple, but I've not discovered any problem in doing it this
way.
G'luck - Jim
