I've got an ampersand in both long and short place names with no problem.
I can't image Legacy trying to convert any characters in those fields,
since they are simply character strings.

Subject: [LegacyUG] problem with & Ampersand &

I am trying to enter shortened place names in my master location list. The
problem is Legacy does not recognise the ampersand symbol; it converts it
into an underscore. This is most unsuitable and annoying! Can anyone else
replicate this problem or have I found a new bug. I hope that programmers
can fix this up, as I cannot do what I want to do until it is fixed.

Thanks you for your attention.
