I don't use the Swap arrow at all as I don't load the clipboard with more than one source at a time.
When you have various source clipboards saved (you can save 10 and I access my most often used sources this way) if you right click on the Source Clipboard arrow on the Individual Information Page, you can choose from the list the source you want on the clipboard.
I usually then take a look at it by left clicking on that arrow to check that I haven't left old detail behind and also to update the date. Then I re-save it so that as I come back and forth from it in today's work, the date is correct and I just have to update the detail (or it's a quick way to clear the detail).
At the moment I have several UK Censuses saved, GRO index, BVRI - and for my South Australian research currently - several cemetery sources.
What is saved in this Source Clipboard List varies depending on my research at the time.
It's this that makes sourcing in Legacy so quick.

You are correct about the danger Cathy. I have so many to do this way, that I need to do so. I always have to check the Add or Edit Source Citations icon to delete the ones that I don't want.
Using the swap arrow is problematic also, because my sources usually include comments that don't move with the source when you swap them. (Is this a bug that could be fixed? I'd really appreciate it)
I'm missing something from your explaination. What do you right click on? Right click on the swap arrow doesn't work. --
