Hi Donna,

Your 18 Feb 1657-1658 is probably supposed to be 18 Feb 1657/1658.
It sounds like you may not have the option set in Options > Customise - Dates Tab - Use double dating - and the cut off year.

This isn't (probably) a transcription uncertainty but an indication of old style/new style dating. The year used to begin in March on "Lady Day" - 25th March. Countries changed calendar at different times. See Options > Customise > Dates Tab - Use Double Dating - with a cut off year. 1752 was the changeover year in England and US. Europe on the whole was earlier. It includes the correction which gave us Leap Days. So dates between Jan 1 and Mar 25 had an old style year and a new style year from 1582-1752.

See http://www.searchforancestors.com/utility/gregorian.html
This site has the dates for the change in various countries and which dates were jumped in the process.

I cc'd my answer to Sherry earlier this week re the other issue and she said she'd pass it on to Dave.
