If you do use any other type of signifier, e.g. "[---?---]" (like me), "[[some text]]" or the word "Unknown", instead of leaving it blank, keep in mind that a Legacy-run IGI Search will not find good matches for you based on a missing last or first name. If, however, you leave those fields blank, it may potentially find a great match for you.
I have to figure out a way to change all my "[---?---]"s to blank entries, and get back again after the search. (I like being able to tell which part of the name is missing.)
