Actually, Marie's address is quite a sensible way to create an email
address. Why? Well it fools spammers that's why. Spammers delight in
using software to create email addresses using common names or words
and tacking on known ISP's. They will even add numbers to make
multiple addresses for common names - John; John1; John2, etc. as an
example.

So in Marie's example (and mine incidentally) there is no "word".
There are many, many addresses like this on the Internet, so if you
delete such messages in the belief that it is nefarious you may miss a
vital piece of information. You may even miss this one :-).

If you have your name in any form in an address you will be subjected
to spam - sooner or later. You could eliminate 90% of spam by adopting
Marie's style. Think about it.
