Good Day All, Ed, your post brought forward an interesting question I've noted from time to time on various genealogy lists - whether a single or multiple database is "best" to maintain different, yet related family lines?
In January 2000, the developer of "Ancestors & Descendents" ended their product. One very interesting feature of that genealogy software was the linking of one database to another via a common ancestor, allowing the printing from both databases to common reports. I had not run into that feature (linked databases) in other genealogy software until recently when I received an email from the developer of an Australian genealogy software product, GENP (http://www.genp.com.au) with updating information for the multiple page genealogy software listings I maintain (http://www.moss-fritch.com/Gen_Software.htm). Seems GENP 2 features include "1. Link one GenBase to another. 'Link don't merge' keep your data separate." I am not writing to urge Legacy users to 'run out' and switch to GENP. However, I am writing to suggest that perhaps the Legacy development team look as the possibility of linked databases as an addition to a future version of Legacy. Best, Denise L. Anyone tried to do this?
