Good morning everyone:

Then one becomes the family historian and anybody sends you photo, and photo –well the end result is 2000 maybe 3000 photo to classify. How do you do it. I realize that everyone will have their way but that’s the best way?

By year
By location
By family

MY grandmother traveled the world -- by being a Navy wife. So how does one classify her youth, her early adult, travel (Navy), middle years, senior years -- classifying the different photographs.

Personal note: She has been thru four different wars: Would you have separate files for each war?

   WWI lost one husband 1921
The Japan-Indo-China War, was in china 1930-32
WWII ( Pearl Harbor) was in Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941 -45
The Korean War connected as a writer for the 'Star and Stripes '
   1955-58

I’m trying to review my (complex numbering system) trying to simplify it before I start in earnestly scanning and labeling all the different photographs.

1.) I would identify the Family Line
2.) identify the individual within the family

At this point is my question. Would you micro-manage the family/individual any further? Such as:

A. Youth
B. Early adulthood
C. Locations lived
D. Travels
E. Middle years/marriage
F. Senior years

OR

G. By year – the problem with by year you maybe miss identifying the photograph properly.

I’m hoping others might have an answer that is easy!
