I think I would probably leave the event sentences as they are - then, if and when you print out a report for a particular person / line you can chack to see if the events read correctly. If they don't, go in and change them for the individuals affected in that specific report. You can either change them by using Sentence Override on a case by case basis - OR - you could decide how you need to change the sentence definition so that it reads correctly for all instances. This may involve making a change to what you put in the various fields / notes in all cases. When all is said and done, the sentence definition only affects reports. As someone else mentioned earlier - it does not change the data in any way, So it only becomes an issue when you want to print a report.
Cheers Jan

This has been a fascinating thread.

I don't think you are stupid Ann. I followed Sherry's directions to get to
the help that talked about Unspecified Events on the context sensitive help
from the Assigned Events Help page. I couldn't find any mention of
Unspecified Events on that help page.
Thanks John for taking the time to follow Sherry's directions and not having any better luck at finding a warning that changing the event sentence was retroactive. I have always tried to be very careful when trying something new to check the manual and the online help before doing it. I don't know where Sherry found the mention of that this would happen, I sure couldn't find it either place.
I have been using Legacy since version 2 and when I printed out the Events - Show List I have a stack of paper over half inch high. To have to go thru this one by one to check each sentence is to me overwhelming. I am not a quitter, I have been caregiver for my husband a 100% wartime disabled veteran for over 40 years. Caregiver is hard for so long plus having to deal with the Veterans Administration. No....I am not a quitter by a long shot, but this event sentence problem just may be the final straw.
What are your thoughts if I was just to leave this Event Sentence problem with some reading strangely and others correctly. I don't mean to be taking the easy way out. Rather a 'is the cure worse than the ailment' In this case the cure is a tremendous amount of time. If you have time I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thank you,
