That's a good idea re the date. I've just been putting the year.
I'm not sure about the details in the notes.
I put the details in the Source Detail.
I also list place of birth etc as <xxxxx registration district, county, England> until I have a better indication of place of birth (usually from census)

i.e if a birth is registered in the Jan-Mar qtr 1876 I enter it as "cir Mar 1876" (just type "c 3/1876"). Then Legacy recognises it as a proper date and I know that with a month and year then it is from a BMD index entry (I put the entry details in Notes)
