You highlight the words and then press ctrl-I. Similarly, ctrl-U will underline.

Researching; Pegrum, Haggis, Pearman, Crawford, Aitchison, Mewburn, Whitelaw, Foley, Rafferty, Elliott, Frost, Golding, Lewry
I use the word "abt" (about) solely to indicate a registration quarter
(eg abt Mar 1876). For other approximate dates culled from other sources
(eg census), I use "c" (circa).
Additionally, I italicise the registration district where it is uncorroborated from any other source as this will often not be the exact
location of the event.
