That's a good idea.
I've been contacted in the last month by a number of people in my extended family tree and should do something about marking them instead of just bombarding them with questions and sharing information :-).
In the past I've added a private event: Family Historian. But I rather like your idea of a Private Source. I think it may work better as Show List gives a quicker result.

My simple mind started by creating a "Internet Contact" Source and then adding that source to the name with Detail of relationship, etc. I've also turned it off so it doesn't show up on any reports as it's not necessarily a real source.
I can then show the "List" of everyone with that source.
