Here is how I do it. Make sure in both computers the version of Legacy you
want is installed. The latest version, ideally.

My laptop does not have floppy disk drives (I wasn't surprised at that, but
was surprised the sales clerk promised me there was a 3.5 inch floppy
drive), so I use CD-Rs which has plenty of room. Should the time come that a
CD-R is not large enough, split the family in half and place them on two
separate CD-Rs and copy, import them together.

CAVEAT: If you research is dependent on the RINs and MRINs being exactly the
same on both machines, be careful. It may not necessarily do so. Usually
though, this is not a problem, as most people I know (around here anyway)
are not dependent on RINs.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Synchronizing data between two installs?

I'm sure this has been asked many times before but now I need to do this
so it's time to ask. I finally decided to do in the Palm/GedStar Pro
experiment. It just isn't flexible enough and having to work with two
interfaces just slows me down.

I finally picked up a laptop and now I'd like to install Legacy on it (I
own Deluxe) and would like to have some sort of automated synchronizing
of the data along the lines of the way a Palm synchronizes its data.
Does Legacy support this in any way? I don't want to have to worry about
the validity of multiple copies of the database and I won't be able to
get into the database on my PC while I'm on the road where no Net access
is available.

What's the best way to handle this?
