Many places did not begin using the Gregorian calendar until LONG AFTER 1582. The British Empire (including what later became the U.S.) did not adopt it until 1752. Much of Eastern Europe did not adopt the Gregorian calendar until the 1910s, and the final country to adopt it did not do so until 1924. T.R.
