What about making a new event called "Occupation-Living" and custom design a
sentence for that? Then you could just choose that event for all the
current occupations of living people. Would that work?

Problem with changing the default sentence is that it would then apply
to all instances and that could create problems. Suppose a person's
occupation for the first half of their life was airline pilot, then
he/she became a teacher. Changing the default would cause both
sentences to read "is" even though one of the occupations has ended.
