I may go overboard on my census entries but I do as many have already stated and then some.
1. I do download the image to my computer. I agree that Ancestry did have some problem of inconsistency, but I think they're all the same resolution now. 2. I transpose the census data to the census event for each family (that I'm interested in) and copy the event to each individual with their name bolded. 3. I've created a pdf form for each census year and use that for "my" transcription. It's easier to read than my own handwriting. 4. I used to create a master source for each Census-Year-Place, but I'm now converting to a master source for each Census-Year-Place-Sheet. 5. I edit the census image so it prints on a full 8 1/2" page. 6. I attach the census image (bmp or jpg) and the 'my' translation (pdf) to the source. I think it's important to have both after all the data in my census event (and pdf file) is only MY interpretation of what's on the actual census image. I could be wrong, so I include the actual image. 7. I print and file the census image and the translation pdf. This gives me what I need today and hopefully something that my next generation genealogists can use.
