I too have a new laptop and installed Legacy Deluxe on it, so I can transfer information back and forth. I just copy the files for the database I am working on to the Memory stick (smart drive) and copy them over the file on the computer that I want to use. I do backups regularly (2-4 times per week) and plan to save a whole bunch of the backups to CD shortly.
There is one frustration with Legacy on the laptop - it won't hold my change of font. I like to use Arial, but if I want to use it, I have to change it each time I log in. No problem on the desktop computer. Could I be doing something wrong? I have 2 main databases as I am doing personal family history and also a church family history, some of which overlap. It is sometimes getting very slow to load the program - I have about 7000 names in one db and about 1600 in the other. Yet I hear that some people have 100,000 names. How slow does it get when you have that many names? Thanks very much - I do like the program and have recommended it to family and friends.
