It is a great program and works well - I just hope the new version is
not as "buggy" as the old, error notices were a constant problem. I have
a CD which I add to on a constant, updated basis using this program. It
currently has about 1200 photos and after a big trip this past week it
will soon go to about 1500 with about 1/3 being 1910 and earlier. It
also has a great deal of interesting historical data, journals,
genealogies, etc. I give out free to those (eligible) family members
provided they send me a SASE with a CD (and case) for burning. I do not
issue "releases" but each CD is labeled with the burn date - constant
additions and changes may soon make a new one desirable.
I never print family genealogies, etc., any more as simply too expensive
and a lot of hassle - this is much, much better. If a recipient wants a
200 page genealogy they can have it printed. Same for anything else on
the CD. Makes life much more fun, simpler and a whole LOT
cheaper..........

Legacy has a program that they promote called FAMILY HISTORY CD. This
company is now doing beta testing on a new program they are calling
PASSAGE
EXPRESS and this program should be released within the next couple of
weeks.
This is an excellent way to pass information on to others on a CD. You
can
attach pdf files that you create in Legacy and you can also put together
slideshows using photos you have. I have been doing some of the beta
testing and am very impressed with what I have seen so far. I have also
been using Legacy for several years and the two programs work together
very
well. See www.passageexpress.com

Subject: [LegacyUG] Copying part of my family file to CD for family
members
Hi Group,
I wish to share only part of my family file with some members of the
same
family. I wish to start with my paternal grandfather and include all of
his
ancestors. If that isn't possible I could start with my father. I am
using
the Standard version (latest build) and Windows XP Home. I've looked
thru
Tips and the Mail Archives, but have not found exactly what I should do
to
accomplish this. I copied the "Splitting Family Files" and "Share Legacy
and Your Family Files", but still haven't a clue. Can anyone give a
computer
dummy some explicit instructions?
Thanks,
Marilyn Luke-Paris
