I thought generatiuons was no longer available. Is it?

I have Generations. I am trying Legacy because it is similar and adds a few
more tweaks but I continue to use Generations to make Charts. I tried the
Tree Draw trial download but was disappointed. Generations charting is far
more friendly. Changing colour of blocks and lines is simple. When moving
individuals or generations across the chart, connections are automatically
redrawn as well as allowing duplicates to be overlaid maintaining their
connections.

I have Generations Version 8 and I have had no problems with it working on
XP SP2.

Seems to me that I used to have programs that could do the job better
almost 10 years ago - Reunion worked nicely, until it died in the hands
of Sierra; and I found a nice little program by Corel (forget the name)
that also worked well. Seemed to be easier to use - or maybe I'm
slower now...

What do you use...?
Anyway, to answer Martin's question, I use FTM and Generations for
printing large charts. I agree with you that Generations makes some
good looking charts. At least they look good on paper, but not on a
display of a computer running Win XP (Long Story). So I have FTM 10
and Generations 5.X.Y around just for making charts. I too tried tree
draw, and while tree draw's output looks really great (better than the
other two IMO) it has one major drawback, which is that it's got too much
space between names on a big chart. Yes, it can be manually adjusted.
I started that and gave up -- way too much work! Hard on the old eyes
too!

There is no contradiction above. Tree draw output looks great. It would
look greater if it were more compressed. Or if it were easier to
compresss
the various names etc.

It is a real shame to me and a major disappointment that Legacy does not
offer native charting capability. I will not be buying Legacy 6. I'm not
interested in more of what I call "database functionality". Legacy
already
has tons. While I would certainly welcome improvements in the reports
as has been mentioned more than once in this forum by more than one
user, I consider the inability to make charts such as those that FTM 3.4
could make back in 1997, to be a MAJOR hole in the product. So even
if the report output is improved, including the bug that Elizabeth
demonstrated
to Geoff more than a year ago, it's not enough to get me to part with any
money.
