That's why we should stop using the term witnesses.  What we are
really looking for is the ability to link multiple people to an event.
 It could be all the people who attended a wedding or a funeral or a
family reunion or were enumerated in a census or whatever.  I got
interested in this capability several years ago when I noticed that a
branch of my family who had moved several hundred miles away, in the
days before travel was easy, always showed up for major family events.
 It begins to build a pattern of where people were, their migration
patterns and makes their lives a little more personal to the current
generation.
