I am new to this group, and I must admit that I have just been 'lurking' so far.
But, I can suggest that in Microsoft Picture-It you try this as an alternate method, especially if you don't want to crop your picture: With the picture in the edit screen, right click in the picture. A drop down menu will appear. Click on 'unlock' This will allow you to grab a corner of the picture and size it on the white space. You can then size he picture leaving as much white space as you would like, and you can add other pictures, shapes and text to the white space. Hope this is helpful. In Microsoft Picture-It, use the "crop" function to add the space you want. It's better to do that before you add the text. Once you crop it you can't change the text. Another alternative I have used is to create a second copy of the photo with the text on top of the picture. I add the letters "txt" to the name of the photo. When there is a group of people and they aren't in straight rows, sometimes this is an easier way to identify the individuals.
