Thank you very much, Mary. I tried this and the charts actually look very
nice. I know I'm being stubborn, but I have some ancestors from whom I
descend multiple times (i.e. from 3 or 4 of their children -- anyone with
French-Canadian ancestors going back to the 1600s knows exactly what I'm
talking about). FTM's outline descendant tree takes up much less space. It's
just much more efficient and compact when copying and pasting into an
e-mail. Another list member seemed to think Legacy had the same capability.
I was just pointing out that it didn't -- at least not in the same compact
way.
I do appreciate it that you have offered alternatives. :-)

I'm going to paste in two versions of the relationship chart printed to
text. The first covers the information you want in a direct line chart.
The second text chart is something that can show how you and a distant
cousin are related. I find it a wonderful help when corresponding with a
"newly met" cousin. This one makes it easy to see the connection via the
closest common ancestor.
You can also choose to include less information, if you like. I began with
FTM and know and appreciate the benefits of the outline descendant report
but I like Legacy's text charts, too, and they can serve the basic purpose
of easily showing how you are directly related to another family member.
