Patricia,  I followed your explanation just fine---I think we may have read 
the same articles on 'how to'.
I have one question for you, though:  When you hand all this down to one of 
your children, will all the numbers have to change?  I mean, I can see where 
when your son/daughter gets married they can start with "M1" for the new 
spouse, but what number would your child have?
I'm asking because one of my goals is to have all this available to my 
daughter to continue recording data and meeting and sharing with cousins, 
etc.

I think I read somewhere about the method of numbering (the Ahnentafel
