Bill,

Forgive me, please read on.

Your observation is in fact the primary motivation (in my experience)
for moving a mailing list to a message board format. Whenever the
mailing list traffic jumps (whether it's from more than one message a
week, or one per hour, doesn't matter, it's the jump that gets noticed),
people consider going to a different format, one where the higher
traffic wouldn't be a problem.

Unfortunately, in my observation, when we've converted that mailing list
to the message board, the message board sits and languishes - empty.

The solution, in my opinion?

Hang in there, with the occasional bursts of high traffic.

While this "board vs list" discussion isn't about V6, it's *triggered*
by V6 traffic. It's a reasonable discussion. The original person asked a
fair question.

We've probably answered that question for now... and, in my opinion,
we're best off keeping things as they are.

Bill, as I said, pardon me. I absolutely *do* respect your suggestion
that we move on. Hopefully this here note can serve as a summary/end to
the discussion for now. That's my intent.

Best Regards,

  Ed Barnard, in Minnesota
