If you go to Tools > Options and the Send tab You will see Include
message in reply. Make sure that is ticked.

Thanks to all who gave directions. In Outlook Express 6 when you hit the
reply button there is only a blank writing area--nothing to delete. I can't
find any controls for what appears on the reply screen so I guess it's
automatic.
I appreciate your help anyway. I was trying to make my LUG replies
succinct.
