But you can make the sentence read however is appropriate. If you
go to the individual and edit the event you can do a sentence
override for that individual's event to make the tense read
correctly.
I also disagree that the past tense is always inappropriate for
living individuals. In my family at least my Father's occupation
changed at least 4 or five times over the course of his life. He
was a farmer from 1935 to 1949, A steam engineer in the oilfields
from 1949- 1962, a building plant manager at a series of
hospitals and residential schools from 1962 - 1979 and then a
stockroom clerk in an oilfield supply firm until he retired. Once
he had finished each of those occupations the past tense "He
worked as ..." was very appropriate. If Legacy were try to change
the tense for every case the Event definition itself would have
to have a start and end date and the programs would have to
include logic to check "today" against the end date or look for a
blank end date to determine the correct tense.

Producing a book in the excellent new Publisher section, it would be nice if
the tense used in reports were to follow the Living tag. i.e. "He/she worked
as...." does not look well when the subject is living!
Maybe sometime?
