I've seen a number of these posts re the options Initial Caps
settings but believed it would only work on new data entries, not
exisitng data. But I tested it and found the option to apply to
existing data. Wow ...

You can globally change the case of the letters of names. This is done from
Options > Customize > Data Format.
Letter Case of Given Names and Locations upon Field Exit
Capitalizes each name in the Given name field and each word in the Place
fields when you leave these fields. To leave the entry just as you typed
it, select the Don't change what I enter button. (The default is Initial
Caps.) If you would like Legacy to go through the entire family file,
formatting each given name and place name to the Initial Caps setting, make
sure the Initial Caps option is selected, and then click Apply.
Letter Case of Last Name upon Field Exit
Select the capitalization option you want to have applied to the Last Name
when the field is exited. (The default is Initial Caps.) If you would like
Legacy to go through the entire family file and format all the last names to
the specified setting, click Apply.
Converting Mixed-Case Entries
By default, name and location entries that have been entered as mixed-case,
such as Van Vleck or de Bruun, are not converted to Initial Caps when you
click the Apply button and answer Yes. If you want these mixed-case entries
to be converted, select the Convert entries that are already mixed-case
option before clicking Yes. If you are converting the format to UPPERCASE,
all the entries are converted, even the mixed-case entries. The only way to
get back the mixed-case entries in this case would be to restore from a
backup.
When converting to Initial Caps while using the Convert entries that are
already mixed-case option:
Anderson remains Anderson
de Bruun changes to De Bruun
van Vleck changes to Van Vleck
VanVleck changes to Vanvleck
