Dan and Cathy,
Thanks for the suggestions. I think the problem went away after I shut down
and re-booted. Everything seems to be o.k. now. Guess the system just
needed to clear its throat.

Subject: [LegacyUG] V6: Location names problem
I waited till the message traffic re: Version 6.0 had died down to order
the new version--feeling that fewer complaints meant no really crippling
bugs. I did try to scan most of the messages to get an idea about the
problems being encountered, but don't remember this particular problem so
maybe it is only my system configuration.
Downloaded Ver 6, Deluxe, this afternoon.
Problem:
When I enter a location, I always enter as complete a description has I
can; e.g., Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa, USA. I have selected to have
the Short Location name displayed on the Family View, but after entering a
location as above, Legacy chooses to enter a short version of its own
choosing, e.g., Oskaloosa, IA, in both the Family View screen and the
Individual Information screen. This occurs even if I haven't entered a
short location name, or if I have, a different short name. In addition,
even if I'm not entering a new location, if I open an Individual
Information screen in which I've already entered the locations in Ver 5.0,
the locations are converted to short names with no action on my part. I
suspect that there are some customize selections which didn't convert from
5.0, but I've searched throught the Customize screens and the Location
options and haven't figured out the problem.
Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas how to solve it? I'm
reluctant to do any work with Ver 6.0 until I figure this out because I
don't want all the Location Names changed from the way I want them.
Win XP Home, Pent 3/833 MHz, 20 Gb HD w/ 7 Gb free.
Any help gratefully appreciated.
