Henry,
You are incorrect about choosing what RIN you can assign to an individual.
It is the First option in Renumbering RINs and MRINs. I have used it
several times. It works when the RIN is not in use, if it is, assign the
person using the RIN you want to a new RIN then Renumber. Some may not see
the use in it, but it is one of the many options Legacy provides us the User
to tailor Legacy according to how the User wants. It just so happens the
first few RINs in my file are Direct line Ancestors (like in an Ahnentafel
Chart) and is handy in Index and Name List Format, and I have most of those
memorized just by using them over the past twenty years.

Matt

Mason

You have no way of controlling RIN numbers...your can choose to re use RIN
number that have been deleted...or you can export to anew database, choosing
to renumber....BUT you cannot choose what number to use for
somebody...However if you use "the renumber RINS feature under tools there
are a few ways to may get some of the results your desire...

The importance of RIN numbers have very little to do with genealogy...they
are actually only a means for the database to track individuals.

Regards
Henry
p.s. Some individuals use RIN for some of the older methods of filing paper
(ugh!)

I'm missing several Rin numbers for some reason, (I thought they were
assigned automatically) how do I find the highest Rin number so I can assign
numbers to these people with out changing any other peoples numbers? Mason
