Cathy, Brian and Keith, Thanks to each of you for your response. Sorry I took so long to answer because illness plays havoc with my concentration, computer time, etc. Therefore, I hope you'll all accept a common reply and my apologies for not being specific enough.
Wouldn't you know it... I found that I had made an error when I first asked for help, basically by leaving out the word text. My description of problem should have read: "....... however, when I return to separately edit the Source Detail TEXT of each individual (where one can optionally enter Actual Source Detail Text) - e.g. to bold the name of that particular individual - I find that as soon as I "bold" one name, it apparently "bolds" the same name on records for each member of household who was allotted the same Census source, source detail and source detail text." Does that make the problem clearer? Cathy: You were right in deciphering my meaning, except that I was actually changing (bolding) part of the Source Detail Text and not the Source Detail itself. I understand your comments re multiple copies of a Source in reports, if changes are made in any way. Also the print advantages of making the Source Detail section identical for everyone in the household. Brian: I understand your comments re clicking on the edit source button instead of the edit detail button, and the consequences of making changes there. I realise too that each person in a household at the time of a census would have the same Source Detail, while another household would have different Source Detail, yet both have the same Source. Keith: No, I was not intending to change the Master Sources. It just seemed like the Source Clipboard was doing it for me, by altering part of my Source Detail Text to another's record. Anyhow all... I'm still left with the same problem. I am using Legacy Version 5.0.0.247, Build Date 12 Jun 2005.
