Dan, Since you posted a public question, I'll post a public reply. Legacy 6 Narrative is the closest available report to my 1970 typed notes for one branch of the family that revised my notes in a word processor family book.
I'd originally intended to recommend the relatives buy Legacy 3 for a more automatic family book instead of photocopying a bunch of word processor files. Don't know if any of them have adequate computer equipment or Internet service to download 26 mb Legacy 6 files as the reunion planners live in a rural area near the 1830 family farm. The 1999 family book included copies of charts made with a non-Legacy genealogy program and some pictures. PDF is better for a book-in-progress than RTF edited in a word processor because some information for the family needs to be updated. Some of the cousins with unhappy first marriages wanted them left out. I had more than a dozen family files for different branches and thousands of scanned pictures with long file names before 16 bit Legacy 2 was released in 1997. Not unusual for a project to be left on hold for a few years hoping that a new version of software will have an extra option needed for a particular family book report. Also had to wait a couple of years for release of the 1911 Canadian census. If the Legacy 6 scrapbooks showed in a Book Preview when selected, I could start to plan an illustrated version. Legacy 6 allows basic event pictures (birth, christening, marriage, death, burial) but they are not included in a narrative like other event pictures. -- E.R., family historian since 1967 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dan > If I had projects on hold for years, I would not lay blame on the tool I > thought was inadequate, or even on the tool maker for not making the > perfect tool for my particular project: I would however either find a > different tool, or admit the project that could wait that long was never > important to me in the first place.
