I'm using the deluxe version but this should work in standard.
1. click on the picture icon to open the picture gallery;
2. Select either the sound or video icon on the picture gallery;
3. When the file selection window opens click on the down arrow
beside the box that says sound or video files, a drop down list
will open and at the bottom is "all files" select that.
4. Browse to your folder with the pdf or other file and select it.
voila you're done.

Is there a way to create links to non-graphic files in Legacy? I have
several PDF documents (e.g. census record downloads) and other documents
that I would like to be able to link to from one or more individuals in
Legacy, but can only find a way to store image files (.bmp, jpg, gif or
tiff etc). I tried printing and scanning the documents, but I either
lose image quality or the file size increases dramatically. I am using
Legacy v6.0 Standard Edition.
Thanks,
