With legacy version 5 you will have problems with the merge. With legacy 6
latest build, supposedly that particular problem is fixed, but I've not
verified this.

Charlotte, as a test, I suggest you try the following with a COPY of your main
database:

1. Start with a COPY of your database which you can throw away after this
test. Write down the number of families and individuals (I think this info
shows under Help -> About Legacy...)

2. Split into your 4 main direct line files.

3. Open each of the four new files, one at a time, and make ONE obvious change
in each file.

4. Open the copy of your large database, and import each of the 4 main direct
line files, one at a time, doing the Intellishare merge. Everything should be
automatic except for catching that one obvious change you made in each.

5. You should end up with the same number of families and individuals as when
you started.

If the above test passed, you should be fine. Throw away the copies!

(The above test fails with Legacy 5 final build.)
