Hi Brian, thanks for writing. I'm using the multi-media backup as well
as the file backup. Re #2, I am familiar with this. It was the fact
that my [onDate] command was not putting the "on" in front of the date
in the sentence structure. Someone else pointed out I needed to
customize the setting. Now all is well. Your answer, however, I'm
sure, will be useful to a lot of oldies and newbies on this list. You
were very nice to take your time to answer this for me. Thank you
again. I WILL be back with more questions. ;-) Happy hunting.

1. The prompt for backup of multimedia files was added in the latest
build. Many users had asked for this because they did not want to
forget to backup their multi-media. The old prompt only backed up
the data file, you had to manually back up multi-media. In fact the
multi-media backup was introduced in build 6.0.073 but it only
applied if you did a manual back-up. Now when you do a backup on
closing Legacy you will be reminded about your multi-media after the
data backup is done.
2. Elsie you are not doing anything wrong at all. Some of the
standard event sentences do not use [ondate] they use [date]. If
you would prefer to use [ondate] in all cases, or just some where
the standard sentence now has [date] you can, from the event edit
window click the button at the bottom to edit the event sentence
definition. Changes made here apply to all events with that name
(i.e. Alt. Death etc.). If it is just the sentence applicable to one
person's event that you would like to change click on the sentence
override tab nest to the event notes tab. Changes you make to the
sentence override apply only to the event for the person to whom it
belongs.
3. If you want to see what the standard event sentences are for
events you can use view > Master Lists > Event Definitions. Clicking
on edit brings up the screen with all the standard sentence
definitions for the event.

I had the same reaction when I shut down after installing the
upgrade. I thought it was because I added a few pics. I made a new
folder for the MM files for backing up. Is that what I should have
done?
I'm having a problem with [onDate]. It doesn't always put "on" in
front of complete dates. What am I doing wrong?
Still loving this new program and all the help from the list!

Subject: [LegacyUG] Backing up
Have just left Legacy before getting some Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
When prompted I backed up the fdb file as I used to do under the
6.0.073 version.
But this morning I spotted that there was an update/patch 6.0.0.79
which I duly installed.
At lunch time and now at Zzzzz time another window popped up
asking if I
also wanted to back up multimedia files.
Is this a standard new feature with .79? When I said "no" Legacy
closed. At lunch time I said "yes" and dummied up a MM file and
another message
appeared saying (I recollect) that I was missing some files.
Exactly what happened after then I can't remember but Legacy did
close out and
then
reopen this evening.
Whilst you all think about it I'm off for a cuddle with my wife.
