Joe;

Well sir, you did hit a good question... at times I can actually read the census report where it provides a street name and address. In instances such as that I have used RESIDENCE etc... here is a good sample from my files which I used OCCUPATION, RESIDENCE, CENSUS and TRAVELLED which I should probably include a new one called MOVED.

Noted events in his life were:

           * He worked as a Works on a Farm in 1880 in Greenup, Greenup,
              Kentucky, USA.(11)
* He worked as a Blacksmith & Cabinet Maker circa 1890 in Greenup,
              Greenup, Kentucky, USA.
* He resided at Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, USA on 18 Jan 1892
              in Sciotoville, Scioto, Ohio, USA.(1)
           * He appeared on the census on 16 Jun 1900 in Portsmouth, Scioto,
              Ohio, USA.(8) Occupation: Rolling Mill
           * He travelled Moved to Harbour, Indiana, USA in 1901.
* He travelled Moved from Greenup, KY to East Chicago, ILL, USA in
1904 in East Chicago, Lake, Indiana, USA.
* He appeared on the census in 1920 in East Chicago, Lake, Indiana,
              USA.(7)
* He travelled Moved to Bradley, ILL, USA on a small farm. in 1927
              in Bradley, Kankakee, Illinois, USA.
           * He resided at 3567 Pennsylvania Avenue on 22 Apr 1930 in East
              Chicago, Lake, Indiana, USA.(12)
           * He resided at Kankakee, Illinois, USA on 21 Oct 1939.(13)
           * He was buried at the Bonfield Cemetery, Salina Township in
Kankakee, Kankakee, Illinois, USA on 28 Jul 1943.

I'm pretty sure I learned this from the training video that Legacy had up at one time. Even though I have been doing this for years, I watched the entire thing and learned a trick or two that I was not aware the program could do.

Paul,

Do you create a CENSUS event for the person, or RESIDENCE, OCCUPATION, etc?

Garry;

I have 899 source files according to the
Legacy Home page... a lot is census
information. I do it twice actually, I use an
assigned source to start with - and include all
the information I need to go back and retrieve
the data again. Then I put in an Event for the
person with very specific information in some
cases. What I get is two fold, one it allows me
to go back and see what my source was and two, it
allows others to see where my source was or the
information that I collected on that family.

By using an event for each piece of
information I have, I get a visual picture of
where they have been if they move around.

Below is the output of my reports:
