Thank you Brian; this is what I was wanting and it saves me a bit of
eye strain BUT how can I enlarge the font for entering information.
the screen has enlarged but the font is still very small. If I change
the entry font will that also change it in reports? I'm happy with
printing reports but it's entering the information or as I have been
doing recently bringing my source information into the format i find
most acceptable.

Although the Details entry screen does not have the usual sizing
buttons you can increase the size. If you use your mouse to grab a
bottom or top corner of the Details entry screen it will change to a
double ended arrow. Now hold down the left mouse button and drag the
screen to a size you like.
