I apologize if I annoyed anyone with my posting. It was not my intent. Nor
was it my intent to downgrade the product, Millennia's support of the
product or the users group. My experience with all three have been mostly
upstanding. Just have a lot of experience with user groups and thought I
would try to share some of that knowledge.

To also clarify, my posting commented on moderators spending time on
teaching people how to use the forum (in that case Yahoo Groups) and taking
effort away from helping people learn the product. That is the downside of
any mechanism you use, as evident even by some of the recent postings here.
That's the nature of the beast. The point I was trying to make (and may not
have done a good job at it) was that if you can simplify it then the
moderators and users CAN focus more on the more important product related
issues.

The last I heard, the only ones who thought I was a trouble maker was my
kids...

Thanks,
-Trent Wong

Subject: [LegacyUG] Re Disfuntional group

This letter annoyed me greatly. This group is a group of folk using Legacy,
and sharing knowledge and frustrations - and yes, certainly help for the
newbies, of which I am more or less one. I hope that majority don't see it
as time educating new users, but instead people helping people. I don't
think we have a problem with spamers or flamers - do we? I haven't noticed
anyone trying to sell coffee mugs, shirts etc., or am I too dense to see
them? Cruises, yes, what a chance to learn and yet have an enjoyable
getting to know one another in person!

I am so sorry that the writer of the e-mail on disfunctional groups has had
that most unfortunate experience in other groups he has been on - or part
of. I hope he was not part of the problem.
