I have used Tree Pad for a number of years and agree that it is a super neat little program. HOWEVER..... The greatest utility program that I have added in many years is a "Desk Top Search Engine" that completely (almost) indexes my hard drive. I happened to install the free one from Yahoo, but there are many others around - also free (I tried the one from Microsoft but didn't care for it). Since I have saved every "meaningful" e-mail from the past 18 years, I have a huge "data base" of information exchanged with other researchers, as well as help and tips from this Legacy List. It is Very easy and quickly searches everything - including all your outgoing correspondence (snail mail), photo file names, saved IM files, spread sheets, PDF Adobe files created by Legacy or downloaded from the web, etc. I have not yet figured out how to have it index the Legacy .fdb files, but maybe someday... If you have saved your "stuff" over the years, you will be amazed at the amount of information that you have on your hard drive that you have forgotten that even exists ;-) As I grow more mature and my memory continues to go its separate way, it has been a Wonderful crutch.
Just a thought...
Jim

Hello Ann,

I am wondering if you would extend your offer to help to me. I've just taken a quick look at TreePad and think I would like to purchase it just for Legacy Tips. I now save all of the posts with information that I think I might need in the future in a Legacy file, but then the Subject lines do not always reflect the info that I am saving. Then I forward, remove the unwanted into, insert a new Subject line and send it to myself. Very akward to say the least. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have this facility within Legacy? Wish list!

Thanks, Cathy, now I see it!
But it seems pretty useless, I could only only attach one comment to
each section of the Help Files.
Guess I'll look at TreePad again. :-)
cheers,
